Episode 003 – Cardiovascular Pharmacology

Cardiovascular pharmacology in acute care settings involves a variety of medications ranging from vasopressors and inotropes to inodilators and inhaled pulmonary vasodilators. Listen in on this podcast as I discuss how I use agents like epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, milrinone, phenylephrine, calcium, methylene blue, and more in my practice.

Keep in mind that I individualize everything for my patients based on their clinical situations, so I won’t be giving any tips on doses or combinations of medications since these vary tremendously.

  1. This was a really nice concise overview of cardiac pharm. in the future can you do a similar podcast geared towards anesthesia during structural heart interventions? Thanks for posting these, they’re very helpful!

    • Hey Melissa! Thanks so much for listening. Personally, I find the anesthetic during structural heart cases much less interesting than the actual procedure and echocardiography involved with positioning MitraClips, left atrial appendage occlusion devices, etc. Don’t think I’d be able to talk longer than 90 seconds on the topic, lol.
